Jacobabad remains shut for second day

JACOBABAD: The Jacobabad city remained closed on the second
consecutive day to mourn the slaying of Sudham Chand Chawla, leader of
the Hindu Panchayat, and condolence meetings continued in the main
Panchayat Hall here.
Known figures of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), led by MQM RabIta
Committee member and ex-MNA Kanwar Khalid Younis, Incharge Sindh
Organisation Committee, Khaliq Balouch and Zonal Incharge Sukkur Zafar
Khan condoled with the brother of the deceased Kanwar Chawla and
condemned the killing of Chawla. They termed it an act of terrorism,
which would spread harassment among the minorities.
11 get life term for Shiv Sena leader's murder

Eleven persons were sentenced to life imprisonment by a fast track
court here after they were held guilty of killing the then state Shiv
Sena chief Murlidhar Bohra during communal riots in Phalodi town.
Holding the accused guilty of killing Bohra two years back with sharp
edged weapons, Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Arif
sentenced Sharif and Saddiq from village Baap, Mohammad Musa, Misra
Khan, Mohammad Hanif, Jamaal, Fateh Mohammad, Shafi Mohammad, Aamdeen,
Mohammad Sharif and Saddiq from Phalodi to life term and imposed a
fine of Rs 1,000 each under two sections of the Indian Penal Code
(IPC).
